Dovecote Barn Adderbury Wedding Photography – Zarah & Luke
Good food, alcohol and music were the criteria that Zarah & Luke built their relaxed, laid back wedding around. Dovecote Barn in Adderbury provided the perfect setting, a ceremony in the Barn at Bo Peep Farm with giggles through out, followed by a reception in the beautifully decorated Teepee (shout out to Nadia at Jam Jar Weddings). We had been promised thunder storms by pretty much every weather app going, but instead we had a stunning day allowing for guest to enjoy the outdoors just as Zarah and Luke had hoped.
As the night crept in fire pits were lit, heels thrown into a corner, ties wrapped around heads and the dance floor played host to a variety of awesome shape throwing into the early hours.
An amazing day to be a part of, here is a little of what I saw:

Bride & Groom Q&A
Where did you meet?
Well, in 2009 we were both out in the lovely town of Banbury! I was a fresh 17 underage drinker out with the girls. We met in a real classy bar 😉 just got chatting and went from there really. After a long graft, 6 months later we got together!
Haven’t looked back since! Let’s say the relationship lasted longer than the bar!
The Proposal
We were in New York! The best place ever! From what Luke tells me there were a few places that it should have taken place but he got a little bit nervous! Empire State, Brooklyn Bridge, Rockerfella. But eventually he chose good old Central Park!
We had been there all day and I was getting a bit hangry so his timing was now or never as it was our second to last day. Luke said he got up to throw some rubbish away and was planning to come back and get down and propose there and then but I had other ideas and being my usual stupid self was pissing around with the camera! Eventually he got me quiet and asked me the big question! I did keep him waiting for the answer… obviously it was a YES!
We then went for the best Thai we’ve everrrrr had!!
How did you choose Dovecote Barn as your wedding venue?
It was pretty easy to decide. We had only seen one before but felt they were very fussy and didn’t get our laid back ways! I went to a wedding fair at Dovecote and fell in love! We both went up there the following week and booked it there and then!
We loved how laid back they were, let us do completely what we wanted! It was so close to home too so that made our decision even easier!
What was the vibe and style of your wedding?
We had always said that all you need at a wedding is good food, alcohol and music! It doesn’t matter where you are as long as everyone is there that matters you will have the best time! Everyone knows that me and Luke are the most laid back people so that’s how we wanted our wedding to be! Everyone said how smoothly it went even the ceremony didn’t feel too serious, with lots of laughs through it!
A massive shoutout to Nadia from Jam Jar Weddings and Events who did all the styling she was amazing! She did all the table plan all the barn decorations and all the little touches! I really wanted lots of pictures dotted around of us with all our guests with everyone really loved. Luke did all the wooden centre pieces which I was still nagging him to do the week before, you know what men are like!! But everything looked amazing I really wouldn’t have changed it!
What was the best decision during planning?
NO KIDS! And also the photographer was pretty wicked!! But seriously we loved that all our friends with kids had such a lovely day without thinking about their little ones! Also the best advice is to do what you want and not think about everyone else! Sounds selfish but it’s your day!
What was the hardest decision during planning?
Every time the seating plan! We didn’t think that it would be soooo difficult! There’s always someone that’s going to be left out! But we managed to get there in the end! And probably the guest list! We were pretty brutal! Haha!
What are your favourite memories from the wedding day?
- Having everyone there that we loved just for us that really means everything.
- Luke not being able to say his words in the ceremony we still get a few laughs about that!
- All the speeches they did such a good job. We even got a few pictures to stitch Luke up!
What would be your advice to anyone planning a wedding?
Don’t bother setting a budget that will just go out the window!!
Really just do whatever you want and don’t worry about upsetting people as you only hopefully get to do it once!
It goes so quick on the day try and take everything in and go off
on your own for a bit.
And the big one – on the day put your phones away and let your photographer take the photos. It was so nice to not have to worry about taking selfies and getting photos of everything
