Santorini Gem Wedding Photography – Leanne & James

Stacks of whitewashed cubiform buildings bathed in sunlight decorate the cliffs. Below the sea laps at the black sand beaches and as the sun once again dropped over the horizon the entire sky suddenly burnt a bright red. This was the evening of the wedding shortly after the beautiful outdoor ceremony overlooking the sea. I had been in Santorini for 4 days at this point and it had instantly won me over, this glorious display in the sky after a stunning wedding was just the icing on the cake.

Leanne & James’ big day was special for many reasons, but on a personal level it was pretty awesome as it is the first wedding that my wife Jade has assisted me on, absolutely smashing groom prep duties whilst I captured Leanne getting ready on the other side of the Island. Entries on a postcard as to what we should call our joint wedding photography business… I’m feeling ‘The Stain Train’!

Q&A with the Bride & Groom

How did the proposal go down?

So James took me on a surprise trip to Milan, we also went to Rome and then Venice where james got down on one knee and told me he “loves me more than anything” and “would I be his wife”. In the very romantic setting of the Grand Canal! On Halloween!!!

How did you choose the Santorini Gem Wedding Venue?

In September 2015 we were in Rhodes, Greece and we decided our next big holiday would be Santorini as I’ve always wanted to go!! He then took me to Milan in the October, bless him! So we decided what better than to marry in one of the Greek islands as we love our Greek holidays!

What sort of experience did you want your guests to have?

Just wanted our family and guests to be relaxed and enjoy surroundings and weather. It was amazing!

What are your favourite memories of the day?

Ohhhh so many I can’t pick! When we went to the village and James had a cheeky wee wee haha!! And having my children by my side walking me up the aisle, amazing and emotional! My Nan watching the wedding via FaceTime was really special because she couldn’t make the trip.

What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding in Santorini?

Relax, enjoy it and don’t stress. Do what you both want to do no matter what! It goes in a flash so enjoy every second, I did try and do that, apart from pratically running up the aisle, I took a step back and just watched for a second taking it all in.
