Whittlebury Hall Wedding Photography – Becca & Zilve
Becca and Zilve’s big day at Whittlebury Hall was just full of surprises, waiters suddenly burst into song standing on tables brandishing guitars and later the dance floor was taken over by a flash mob of Becca and her ‘Hens’ performing a wonderfully synchronised routine! The weather wasn’t on our side but that didn’t dampen (get it!!) the party spirit one bit, it’s the first time I’ve ever done a confetti tunnel under umbrellas and it was aaaaace!
In their own words accompanied with my images, here is the story of Becca and Zilve’s wedding:
Bride & Groom Q&A
How did you meet?
We met online – plenty of fish website (not sure if that site is still going anymore?!) It’s one of those sites where you have to write cringey bios. We both definitely make stuff up in our bios! Zilve doesn’t cook and Becca isn’t particularly musical)
Tell me a bit about yourselves
Zilve teaches Maths in an all boys School in East London. Becca works for DeepMind (a company working on AI). We are both very much into our exercise and joined CrossFit in 2018 which takes up lots of our time! Zilve takes exercise to another level and does lots of big challenges (cycling to different countries, climbing mountains, entering Crossfit competitions etc!) That said, we do also love lazy days and really love watching the
Office (US version) & eating Pizza together 🙂
We both love London life and find ourselves busy a lot – spending lots of time out and about with friends exploring everything the city has to offer!
How did the proposal go down?
Zilve is from Lithuania originally and took Becca there to meet all of the family in October 2017. On a FREEZING cold morning Zilve took Becca to a quiet lake and boat ride around a beautiful castle. It was very quiet (everyone else had more sense than to be outside in those temperatures!) Zilve proposed on the boat (there was no one knee, he probably would have fallen out of the small boat!) Lots of tears and a great big YES 🙂
How did you choose Whittlebury Hall as your wedding venue?
We wanted to get married around Northamptonshire, where Becca is originally from. Becca’s parents still live there and really kindly did lots of initial searching for us! They found Whittlebury Hall and it was the first place we went to and really loved it.
Vibe & Style
We wanted it to feel like a great party! Super relaxed, easy and enjoyable!
Neither of us are particularly creative when it comes to design etc. There wasn’t a clear vision of what we wanted it to all look and feel like. However we did enjoy looking at pintrest for inspiration!
There ended up being a little bit of a boozy theme – we had a bottle display for showing the table plan, cork bottles with our names on the tables, Lithuanian vodka favours. We love a party and we love enjoying drinks with family and friends so this sort of became our unintended theme!
What was you best decision during the wedding planning?
To spread it out over the 12 months as much as possible. We took care of the big things quite early one (venue, photographer, videographer etc) which made things easier, particularly with suppliers who were mostly all available. Anything that we could do in advance, we did. This meant that nearer the time, whilst there was quite a lot to do towards the end (things that couldn’t have been done sooner), it didn’t really feel stressful at any point.
What was the hardest decision?
Probably the guest list! It’s so hard to draw the line in terms of who to invite!
What were your favourite memories of the day?
Our singing waiters were amazing – everyone loved them and they really brought the whole energy up in the room after the big meal.
We also both really enjoyed the flash mob that Becca did with the girls from her hen do.
What advice would you have for any couples planning their wedding?
It’s hard not to get caught up in the details of things but honestly on the day, the only thing that matters is that you can to marry the person you love, in front of all your friends and family. Keep that in mind as you plan. Don’t sweat the small stuff – on the day you won’t even notice the small things! On the day, just enjoy it and savour every moment- it’s a really special moment in time!
